I just found out tonight that Blogger didn't tell me about a year's worth of comments and I'm trying to play catch up now. I just checked my tree and while I have a John and Mary just about every generation of the Bennett line, I don't have an Ella May there (I have one on the Henn line). So I don't think I can be of much help. I'll take another look on the weekend when I have more time and respond again if I find anything that looks like a link.Jo Hennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566276500934815959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4967992205144808298.post-30767584542134734352019-09-06T14:07:29.948-04:002019-09-06T14:07:29.948-04:00Hello, my name is Linda, I,m a descendant of the B...Hello, my name is Linda, I,m a descendant of the Bennett's. I realize that this is a different baptism record as its for Eliza and not Tom, but this again is an incorrect entry in the indexing by the Irish Genealogy site (https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/2a645a0043098). If you click through to the photo of the actual church registry book page (this sentence at the bottom of the Index page is clickable, "View the church register page containing this record" and goes to a photo of the page), the entry says Lucretia Hingston, not Lucelia, by my reading of the handwriting. Do you read it differently?

Jo Jo Hennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566276500934815959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4967992205144808298.post-47230486468654169692018-04-27T15:28:51.464-04:002018-04-27T15:28:51.464-04:00Hi John, I answered this on your first comment bef...Hi John, I answered this on your first comment before I saw this. Just in case you don't get that one, I'll do it again here. I have seen this page at the Irish Genealogy Indexes to Church Records. This index from the Irish Genealogy page is the one that has the typo. If you click through to view a scanned copy of the actual church record book, the entry says "Tom of Tom Bennett & Lucretia Hingston Ws William Bennett, Biddy Carthy",initialed by someone whose initials I haven't deciphered, by my reading of the handwriting, at any rate. If you read it differently when you see it, let me know, I'm interested.

I learned from Ancestry.com's indexing to always go look at the original record if possible, because the indexing isn't always right. I'm very grateful Irish Genealogy attached photos of the actual book.

Jo

JoJo Hennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566276500934815959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4967992205144808298.post-43629042333937733722018-04-27T15:18:14.651-04:002018-04-27T15:18:14.651-04:00Hi John, I've seen that. The line at the bottom of the indexed entry "View the church register page containing this record." is clickable (even though it doesn't look like it -- they could make it easier to know it's a link!) and will take you a picture of the actual page of the church registry book. The entry you're looking for is the top one on the second page. (It shows up sideways but there are tools to flip it around.) I downloaded it so I have a copy of the page, and saved it with a link to the index page. I think this is the same one you're talking about? http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/2e75a70041897

Jo
Jo Hennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566276500934815959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4967992205144808298.post-15866630679721990652018-04-27T12:35:34.463-04:002018-04-27T12:35:34.463-04:00Lots of typos eg. Your comment landed in my email (they’re connected) about the time I got the flu and I was wiped out for 2-3 weeks. Since then I’ve been trying to find the email with your comment— I remembered getting it and being excited but too tired to follow thru then, then I lost it (must’ve deleted it. Tonight I woke me up (it’s 3:00 AM now) with the realization that it would probably still be in Blogger’s unpublished comments file. It was! Yay! I’m so glad I found it. I’m so glad you wrote. I would love to hear more from you about the Bennetts! This is exciting! My genealogy email is Henn.jo@hotmail.com. Or I’m on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram if you want to PM first. Or if you want to give me your email without it becoming public, leave another comment and I’ll get it but promise to not publish the comment. Up to you. Thank you for reading the post and contacting me!Jo Hennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17566276500934815959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4967992205144808298.post-2046012118828635172018-02-08T21:20:13.245-05:002018-02-08T21:20:13.245-05:00My name is "Eric Bennett". Here's my tuppence worth - given you've already found William, his parents, and lots of his siblings in Schull, maybe you could try tracing them forward in Co. Cork. You might find nothing, i.e. 'negative evidence', adding to the probability you've identified the right people, and you may learn more about the family. (start with church records, property records, civil records, directories, etc, and newspapers)Dara https://www.blogger.com/profile/16643201998217385573noreply@blogger.com
